DESIGN NOTE:
WHY “MARMOLADA SHIELD”?
“Marmolada is the Queen of the Dolomites,
a limestone massif born from ancient oceanic
coral reefs that emerged over time.
We combined this name with the word
SHIELD to evoke a shoe with a fluid,
hybrid nature—capable of transforming
a lightweight high-altitude
shield into a snappy structure
for urban asphalt, seamlessly
adapting to every change in trajectory.”

The challenge was to achieve a lightweight structure, eliminating any constraints that could hinder the fluidity of movement. We were asked to design a shoe capable of adapting to hybrid paths while maintaining a taut, responsive fit. The result is a protective yet flexible travel companion, stripped of redundant elements to support every trajectory.

DOLOMITE STRATIFICATION
INTO A LIGHTWEIGHT SHOE
“An upper with rigorous lines,
born from the fusion of
Dolomite rock stratification
and the geometric contours
of the urban environment.”
The biggest bet was translating the stratification of Dolomite rock into an appealing aesthetic. Keeping a ‘mountain-to-city’ use in mind, it felt natural to contrast the texture of the stone with layers of raw, bare, and unfinished concrete.
